Mendoza secured first team honors for the second consecutive year. May 24 Stanford, Calif. -- Stanford sophomore Jessica Mendoza (Camarillo, CA/Camarillo HS), along with sophomore Sarah Beeson (Tucson, AZ/Canyon Del Oro HS) and freshman Dana Sorensen (San Diego, CA/Scripps Ranch HS), were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America team today. Mendoza, the 2000 Pac-10 Softball Player of the Year, earned First Team
All-America honors as an outfielder after leading the nation in hitting
with a .475 average. Mendoza, who last season became the first Stanford
player to be selected First Team All-America, broke six Stanford single-season
records this season, including batting average (.475), hits (94), doubles
(20), home runs (13), runs (57) and stolen bases (20). Mendoza earned Pac-10
Player of the Week honors three times this season.
